Community First Credit Union Collective Power Learning Lab featuring Changing Homelessness

07/30/2020 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM ET

Description

The Community First Credit Union Learning Lab provides a platform for local nonprofits, funders and stakeholders to learn from two local nonprofits that developed and executed exemplary practices in the areas of Collective Power and Social Innovation. These two organizations also received the 2020 Local Focus. Lasting Impact.™ awards. Using a panel discussion and Q&A format, the Community First Credit Union Learning Labs will shine a light on the decision-making processes that make these programs successful. While each of the programs described are unique to the organizations, the lessons learned are valuable for any organization in the Northeast Florida Nonprofit sector.

Collective Power: Developing and coordinating a proactive plan to address COVID-19 in unsheltered Jacksonville residents

Participants can expect to learn and discuss ...

  • How to build a collaborative network that can activate quickly in times of crisis
  • The importance of risk leadership in protecting vulnerable people
  • The process of identifying the right partners for sustainability

As a part of the coordinated City of Jacksonville response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Changing Homelessness and the Mayor's Task Force COVID-19 Shelter Sub-committee coordinated a multi-pronged effort to screen and test people who are experiencing homelessness for COVID-19. Through the efforts of this collective every person in a congregate homeless shelter in Jacksonville received a free COVID-19 test and to this date, no one in these settings has tested positive for COVID-19. Beyond meeting the immediate needs of testing, the agencies involved in this collaboration developed pandemic response plans and established new services and methods of service delivery to minimize risk for staff and program participants alike.
